Bhubaneswar: The SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar has convicted seven individuals for leaking confidential information through OTP sharing with suspected anti-national agents, including links to Pakistani operatives.
The court sentenced each of the seven accused to three years of rigorous imprisonment. The judgment was delivered after a detailed hearing based on strong evidence, including 56 documents and testimonies from 11 witnesses.
According to the investigation, the accused were involved in sharing One-Time Passwords (OTPs), which allegedly led to the leakage of sensitive information. Initial probes raised suspicions of connections to anti-national elements, prompting a thorough inquiry that established their guilt.The case has once again highlighted the grave risks associated with casually sharing OTPs, passwords, or any personal verification codes.
Cybersecurity experts have warned that such seemingly minor lapses can be exploited by cybercriminals and foreign agents to commit serious offences, including identity theft, financial fraud, and threats to national security.
