Puri: In view of the rising temperatures, the Puri District Education Office on Monday announced the temporary closure of all schools in the district for students from April 21 to April 23, 2026. The decision was taken following directives from the Collector and District Magistrate, Puri, to safeguard students’ health amid the ongoing heat wave.
The order applies to all government, government-aided, and privately managed schools, covering classes from Shishu Vatika to Class XII. Officials clarified that the closure is limited to students, while teaching and non-teaching staff will continue to attend schools and carry out their duties as usual.
However, supplementary examinations for Class V and Class VIII will be conducted as per the schedule issued by OSEPA, Bhubaneswar. School authorities have been instructed to make necessary arrangements, including the availability of safe drinking water, Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), first-aid facilities, and proper ventilation, to ensure the well-being of students appearing for the examinations.
All administrative activities, including admissions, official work, and census-related duties, will continue without interruption during the period. Staff members have been directed to remain present in accordance with existing guidelines.
The District Education Office has urged strict compliance with the order, which has come into immediate effect as a precautionary measure to minimise the impact of the prevailing heat wave conditions.
