Sundargarh: In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions across the district, the District Education Office (DEO), Sundargarh, has announced the temporary closure of all schools for five days as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health and well-being of students.
As per an official order issued by the DEO, all educational institutions—including government, government-aided, SSD schools, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), and private schools—conducting classes from I to XII will remain closed from April 23 to April 27, 2026. The decision has been taken in accordance with the directions of the district administration.
The move comes amid a sharp rise in temperatures and growing concerns over the adverse impact of extreme heat on school-going children.
The order has been issued under the direction of the District Collector, Sundargarh, and will remain in force until further orders, indicating that the closure period may be extended if the heatwave conditions persist.
