BJP Chief Nitin Nabin Calls Rahul Gandhi ‘Part-Time Politician’

Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, calling him a ‘part-time politician’ for addressing the public only during election campaigns.

Nabin took part in a roadshow at Shantipur in Nadia district of West Bengal ahead of the second phase of the Assembly polls to be held on April 29.

During an interaction with IANS, he questioned: “Has Rahul Gandhi ever been seen taking part in any movement or speaking on any issue?”

The BJP chief alleged that the Congress leader only speaks whenever elections are near.

“The people of Bengal have got nothing to do with such part-time politicians,” he said.

He further said, “Just wait and see, in a few days, Rahul Gandhi will be seen sitting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Their INDI alliance has broken. We don’t have any alliance.”

Nabin’s response came after LoP Gandhi, during a rally in Sreerampore the previous day, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are “both two sides of the same coin”, considering that none of them cares about the aspirations of the common people.

“Both the Prime Minister and the West Bengal Chief Minister are bothered about themselves. What PM Narendra Modi is doing in India, that is exactly what Mamata Banerjee is doing in West Bengal,” Gandhi had said.

The Congress MP also alleged that PM Modi and CM Banerjee had a clandestine arrangement, because of which not a single case was filed against her.

Shifting his attack on the West Bengal CM, Nabin said: “We are fighting for the people of West Bengal whom ‘Didi’ (Banerjee) has terrified.”

Referring to the high polling percentage during the first phase of the election on April 23, the BJP chief asserted that the voter turnout on April 29 will break that record.

Sounding certain of the BJP’s victory, Nabin said: “I believe that on April 29, people will come in large numbers to every booth to vote for the BJP.”

“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the people of the state are ready to move from an atmosphere of despair and fear to an atmosphere of hope and belief,” he added.
