Sundargarh: Three people were killed and over 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck near Musabira village under Chandiposh police station limits in Sundargarh district on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, the accident took place on NH-520 when a private bus travelling from Rourkela to Jajpur collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Musabira village. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the truck driver dead on the spot. Two bus passengers also succumbed to their injuries.
Following the incident, locals alerted the police and emergency services. Chandiposh police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. A gas cutter was used to break open the mangled bus to rescue passengers trapped inside.
The injured were shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) in multiple ambulances for treatment. Around 10 ambulances were engaged in the evacuation and medical response operation.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
