Sundargarh: In a horrific road accident, a trailer driver was burnt alive after his vehicle caught fire following a head-on collision with another trailer in Hemgiri area of Sundargarh district.
The tragic mishap occurred late last night on the Bankibahal-Topria Road, in front of the DBL office under Hemgiri Police Station limits.
According to reports, two trailers collided head-on on the road, causing one of the trailers to burst into flames. The driver of the burning trailer got trapped inside the cabin and was unable to escape. He was charred to death on the spot. Even hours after the accident, the trailer was still reportedly on fire.
The driver was reportedly crushed inside the cabin, which made rescue extremely difficult as the vehicle rapidly caught fire.
Hemgiri police have reached the spot and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
