Bargarh: Two senior officials of the Odisha Education Department among two were arrested by Bargarh Town Police on Thursday in connection with an alleged sexual harassment case involving a woman Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC).
As per reports, the arrested persons have been identified as District Education Officer (DEO) of Bargarh Jyoti Kanta Sahu, Block Education Officer (BEO) of Bargarh Block Surendra Sahu and a Physical Education Teacher (PET) Sameer Panigrahi at Satlama School.
According to police, the victim, who works as a Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC), lodged a complaint alleging that the three officials had subjected her to sexual harassment. She has also accused them of sending her obscene messages.
Following the complaint, Bargarh Town Police registered a case and swiftly arrested all three accused. The arrests were made after the woman teacher filed the formal complaint. They will be produced in court today.
A detailed investigation into the matter is currently underway.
It is learnt that the concerned CRCC had also lodged a complaint earlier with the District Collector. An inquiry is also underway at the administrative level.
