Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday evening at 7:20 pm issued a nowcast warning alerting of imminent thunderstorm activity across parts of northern and western Odisha.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Sambalpur district, Sundargarh district, Keonjhar district, and Mayurbhanj district over the next two hours.
The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ warning, advising residents to remain alert and monitor weather conditions closely for any sudden deterioration.
People in the affected districts have been urged to take necessary precautions, including moving to safer locations in case of lightning activity, to minimise the risk of injury.
