Jeypore: Unna Rajendra Patro, a retired teacher of SSD High School of Dukum, Bisamcuttack in Rayagada district, was today convicted by the Special Vigilance Court in Jeypore in a disproportionate assets case.
The Special Vigilance Judge, Jeypore found him guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He has been sentenced to undergo two years of rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs. 50,000.
Patro, who retired from SSD High School, Dukum, was charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance Department for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following his conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department will now initiate steps to move the competent authority for the stoppage of his pension.
