Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday busted an illegal gun manufacturing unit in Odisha’s Kandhamal district and arrested one person.
The accused, identified as Daitari Bindhani of Lavanya Nagar in the Tumudibandh area, was allegedly involved in the production of country-made firearms.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of Tumudibandh police conducted a raid under the supervision of Baliguda SDPO Shubham Bhosale. During the operation, police seized three country-made guns along with a large quantity of equipment used for manufacturing firearms.
According to reports, the illegal unit was operating in the Lavanya Nagar area, and the accused was apprehended at the spot.
Police suspect the involvement of more people in the racket and have launched a further investigation to identify and nab the other accused.
