Bhubaneswar: In a fresh case of ATM theft, unidentified criminals broke into an SBI automated teller machine (ATM) in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday night.
The incident took place in the Khunta region close to Bangala Square in Udala.
As per reports, the suspects first sprayed paint over the security cameras to disable them, according to recovered CCTV footage, before forcing their way into the kiosk. To prevent the alarm from alerting locals or police, they also tampered with the siren system. The miscreants then escaped with an unknown sum of cash.
Police have sent a forensic team to the site for investigation, though the precise amount stolen has not yet been determined.
Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footages and have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend the robbers responsible.
