Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds over 18 districts of Odisha.
According to the warning issued at 1pm on Thursday, the weather event is very likely to occur at one or two places in the next three hours in the districts such as Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Angul, Deogarh, Boudh, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
Winds are expected to reach speeds of 30-40 kmph during the spell. The IMD has advised people in the affected areas to closely monitor the weather for any worsening conditions. Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions, especially against lightning, and remain prepared to move to safer locations if required.
