Cuttack: The Odisha government has initiated measures to expedite the hearing and disposal of thousands of pending revenue cases across the state, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said Friday.
A high-level review meeting chaired by the minister was held at the Board of Revenue premises in Cuttack to assess the pendency of revenue-related cases and strengthen the disposal mechanism.
Additional Chief Secretary Revenue and Disaster Management Department Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Memeber Board of Revenue Satyabrata Sahu, the Cuttack Collector and other senior officials attended the meeting. District Collectors from various districts also participated through video conferencing.
During the meeting, the government decided to increase the number of Revision Courts to 43 to facilitate quicker adjudication of cases. The minister said powers for disposal of revenue matters have been delegated to authorities at all levels, from the Board of Revenue to Tahsildars, in an effort to reduce pendency.
Pujari also said the process of registration of revenue cases would be further streamlined and expedited in the coming days.
