Rourkela: A fuel shortage has surfaced in Rourkela city, leading to rationing of petrol sales at several filling stations, especially in the Sector-17 area, sources said Monday.
According to local reports, the petrol pump located near the Sat Satara crossing has imposed restrictions on fuel distribution over the past few days due to irregular supply from the depot.
As per the temporary arrangement, two-wheelers are being provided petrol worth only Rs 200, while four-wheelers are being supplied fuel worth up to Rs 2,000.
Employees at the petrol pump said the restriction has been enforced because fuel stocks are depleting and fresh supplies are not reaching the outlet regularly from the depot.
The situation has caused inconvenience to commuters and vehicle owners, with many consumers expressing concern over the continuing shortage. However, there has been no official statement yet regarding when normal fuel supply will resume in the city.
