Nabarangapur: In a swift investigation, Nabarangapur Police have solved a murder case within 24 hours by arresting two accused persons who allegedly killed a 38-year-old man and staged the scene to look like suicide.
According to reports, the body of Jagannath Gouda (38) of Biriguda village under Kodinga Police Station limits was found hanging from a cashew tree on the outskirts of the village on the morning of May 10. Initially, it appeared to be a case of suicide. However, the father of the deceased lodged a complaint at Kodinga Police Station alleging that unknown persons had murdered his son and dumped the body at the spot. A case (No. 59/2026) was immediately registered.
Sandeep Madkar, Superintendent of Police Nabarangpur visited the spot and constituted a special investigation team under the leadership of SDPO Satyajit Kandankel and IIC Kodinga Dipak Jena. Through intensive investigation and gathering of crucial evidence, the police team identified and arrested two accused persons within 24 hours.
The arrested persons have been identified as Padman Gouda (25) and Ganesh Gouda (19).During investigation, it was found that the accused had brutally assaulted and strangulated Jagannath Gouda to death. In an attempt to destroy evidence and mislead the police, they later hung the body from a cashew tree using a rope to make it appear as a case of suicide.
Police have seized incriminating materials from the accused including a Kendu stick used in the assault, a napkin used for strangulation, and the wearing apparel of the accused persons. The exact motive behind the murder is still under investigation.
