Bhubaneswar: The Bargarh District Collector has suspended the Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Satlama High School, following serious allegations of sexual harassment and fund misappropriation.
Additional District Collector Mahendra Mohapatra confirmed the suspension of Sameer Panigrahi and stated that a letter has been sent to the state government recommending the suspension of the District Education Officer (DEO) and the Block Education Officer (BEO).
Earlier, Bargarh Police had arrested three officials in connection with the case — District Education Officer Jyotikanti Sahu, Sadar Block Education Officer Surendra Sahu, and PET teacher Samir Panigrahi of Satlama High School.
The arrests were made after a woman Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRC) member from Bargarh Municipality filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment by the accused officials along with misappropriation of funds.
