Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved three bypass projects worth Rs 544 crore for the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving regional connectivity.
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said on Tuesday that the approved projects include bypasses at Rajasunakhala (Rs 156 crore), Begunia (Rs 118 crore), and Pubusahi–Sarua–Taratua (Rs 270 crore), covering a total length of 18 kilometres.
According to Sarangi, she had personally requested Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Jairam Gadkari to sanction the projects, citing long-standing traffic bottlenecks in the region. She said the proposals have now been cleared and will soon move to the tendering stage.
The MP added that the execution of the projects will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion. She said the new bypass corridors are expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure on existing routes and improve mobility for residents in Bhubaneswar and adjoining semi-urban and rural areas.
Reiterating her focus on infrastructure development, Sarangi said, “Development and Service are the ONLY agenda items,” while expressing gratitude for the approval of the projects.
The bypass corridors are considered strategically important for enhancing road connectivity in Bhubaneswar and adjoining semi-urban and rural areas.
