Bhubaneswar: The Railway Ministry has approved a new Express train service between Puri and Koraput via Sambalpur, further boosting rail connectivity across Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for introducing the new train service.
According to official information, the train will connect eastern, western and southern parts of Odisha, improving travel convenience for passengers across the state. The Chief Minister said the new service
would also help devotees from the Sambalpur and Koraput regions travel more easily to Puri, one of the state’s prominent pilgrimage destinations.
The train will operate three days a week. Train number 18407 will depart from Puri on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while train number 18408 will leave Koraput on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The train will stop at 19 stations en route. These include Khordha Road, Bhubaneswar, Naraj-Marthapur, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Boinda, Redhakhol, Sambalpur, Bargarh Road, Balangir, Titilagarh, Kesinga, Muniguda, Rayagada, Tikiri, Laxmipur Road, Kikiriguma and Damanjodi.
