Baripada: In a major success, the Mayurbhanj police recovered 58 mobile phones that had been stolen or lost at different places across the district and returned them to their rightful owners on Tuesday.
To mark the recovery, the district police organised a “Mobile Mela” at the District Police Headquarters in Baripada, where the recovered phones were handed over to their owners.
Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Varun Guntupalli personally distributed the mobile phones during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP said the use of modern technology has made it easier for police to trace lost or stolen mobile phones, which helped in achieving the recovery.
He urged people to immediately report incidents of mobile phone theft or loss at the nearest police station. Prompt reporting enables the police to place the devices on the tracking list quickly, significantly improving the chances of recovery, he said.
The owners who received their phones expressed happiness and thanked the Mayurbhanj police for their efforts.
