Dhenkanal: A youth was found murdered by the roadside at Regeda village under the jurisdiction of Tumusinga police station in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Narottam Maharana, a resident of Patnasahi in Sogar village.
According to reports, Narottam had left his house after dinner on Tuesday night but did not return home. Locals spotted his body lying in a pool of blood near the roadside early on Wednesday morning and alerted the police. Preliminary investigations revealed multiple injury marks on his face, head, and legs, indicating that he was brutally assaulted before being killed. Investigators suspect that stones may have been used in the attack. However, the exact motive behind the murder is yet to be established.
Upon being informed, the Tumusinga police, along with a scientific team, reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
