Bhubaneswar: Brajrajnagar Municipality area in Jharsuguda district witnessed a significant boost to its development as Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari laid the foundation stone for 82 new projects worth Rs 23.48 crore and dedicated 12 completed projects worth Rs 2.77 crore to the public.
The foundation stone laying and dedication ceremony was attended by Jharsuguda District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan, District Project Director Biswa Ranjan Nayak, Krishna Gopal Sitani, and Brajrajnagar Municipal Council Executive Officer Chandramani Swain.Speaking on the occasion, Minister Suresh Pujari said that the all-round development of Brajrajnagar is the top priority of the government.
“The projects inaugurated and whose foundation stones have been laid today will greatly strengthen the city’s infrastructure while generating massive employment opportunities for local youth,” he added.
He highlighted that projects like the new shopping complex and modern market will boost the local economy and promote self-reliance among the youth. The minister also announced the construction of a state-of-the-art shelter on the National Highway for the safety and comfort of motorists. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of every section and towards building a ‘Viksit Brajrajnagar’.
Among the 12 projects dedicated to the public, major ones include a drama pavilion at Goal Chowk (Rs 20 lakh), a yoga pandal at Eco Park (Rs 18 lakh), renovation of Shaheed Smriti Khanam and Madhusudan Chowk (Rs 17 lakh), and construction of a school building with five additional classrooms (Rs 206 lakh). Two community centres were also inaugurated — Durga Mandap at Lamatibahal (Rs 6.75 lakh) and community centre at Pawar House Pada (Rs 5 lakh from MP LAD fund).
Key projects for which foundation stones were laid include a modern non-veg market near the complex (Rs 3.6 crore), a special library near Women’s College (Rs 3.42 crore), a welfare mandap at Lamtibahal (Rs 2.1 crore), and a shopping complex near Tunnel Road (Rs 1.2 crore).
Special focus has been given to the comprehensive development of the Telenpali area. This includes construction of a shed at LBYS Club (Rs 50 lakh), welfare mandap at Bhagatpada (Rs 60 lakh), another welfare mandap, improvement of Telenpali Sahupada area (Rs 1 crore from DMF funds), and restoration of Telenpali pond (Rs 60 lakh).The Brajrajnagar Municipality has also prepared a future action plan of approximately Rs 36 crore for the financial year 2026-27.
