Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen law and order, the Commissionerate Police has formed two special units — Special Tactical Unit (STU) and Special Tactical Group (STG) — for the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The newly constituted forces will play a vital role in handling mob violence, public unrest, and other emergency situations with swift and effective response.
According to police, these special teams will be deployed in Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) and Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles at strategic locations across the twin cities. In the event of any outbreak of mob violence or public disorder, the dedicated units will act promptly and take the situation under control.
The personnel selected for STU and STG have undergone specialised training in crowd management, handling aggressive mobs, emergency interventions, and rapid-response operations. The formation of these dedicated units is seen as a proactive step by the Commissionerate Police to enhance public safety and ensure quicker, more professional handling of critical law and order challenges in the region.
