Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Thursday said service to society is the true and sacred manifestation of humanity while addressing the Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides State Awards Ceremony held at New Abhishek Hall in Lok Seva Bhawan.
Highlighting the importance of selfless service, discipline and leadership among the youth, the Governor referred to the ancient Indian saying “Seva Paramo Dharma” and said service is the highest duty and life becomes meaningful through helping others.
Expressing happiness over participating in the event, he described the ceremony as a proud occasion celebrating the dedication and achievements of young Scouts and Guides.
As the Chief Patron and First Guide of Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides, the Governor said the State Award is not merely a recognition but a symbol of character, determination and commitment towards society and the nation. He said the honour reflects values such as compassion, teamwork, responsibility and patriotism.
The Governor stated that every award recipient had earned the recognition through sincerity, hard work and dedicated service to humanity. He stressed that instilling values like kindness, humility, discipline and empathy among children helps shape responsible and compassionate citizens.
Praising the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement, Hari Babu Kambhampati said it has played a significant role in developing leadership qualities, life skills, environmental awareness and disaster management capabilities among the youth.
He appreciated the contribution of more than four lakh Scouts and Guides in Odisha and over 7.5 million members across the country in activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation programmes, health awareness campaigns, public service initiatives and emergency response efforts.
The Governor congratulated the award recipients and lauded the role of teachers, parents, unit leaders and officials in guiding and inspiring young achievers.
School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Ganda also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
Earlier, State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides Odisha and National Vice President Kali Prasad Mishra delivered the welcome address.
During the programme, achievers from various categories of Bharat Scouts and Guides were honoured with awards.
