Bhubaneswar: In a horrific road accident, six people were killed on the spot when a speeding bus rammed into an auto-rickshaw and dragged it for nearly 100 metres at Ladkapalli Square under Purusottampur Police Station in Ganjam district on Friday.
The tragic incident occurred when the bus was driving at high speed and reportedly lost control before being collided with the auto-rickshaw. The impact of the accident was so severe that the bus dragged the auto for a significant distance before fleeing the spot.
It is learnt that the auto-rickshaw was carrying 10 members of a family to Maa Singhasini temple when the tragic mishap took place.
Upon being informed, police and ambulances reached the spot shortly after the accident and shifted the injured to the Kodala Hospital.
According to preliminary information, four other passengers sustained injuries. They were soon shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
