Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two students who had recently passed their Class 10 examinations drowned in Ankuli Nuabandh under Badyanathpur police limits in Ganjam district.
The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Panda from Gajapati Nagar area and Abhijit Mandi from Khodasingh area.
According to reports, the two students had gone to the pond to play when they accidentally drowned. Local residents who noticed the incident immediately tried to rescue them but could not succeed. They then alerted the fire brigade, which rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies.
The students were rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Badyanathpur police are questioning locals to gather more details.
