Bhubaneswar: Daytime temperatures remained high across several parts of Odisha on Tuesday, with three locations recording maximum temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or above, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the IMD bulletin, Boudh, Khordha and Sambalpur were the only stations in Odisha to cross the 40-degree Celsius threshold during the day.

Boudh and Khordha emerged as the hottest places in the state, each recording a maximum temperature of 41.0 degrees Celsius. Sambalpur followed closely with 40.8 degrees Celsius.

Several other stations reported temperatures nearing the 40-degree mark. Talcher and Dhenkanal recorded 40.0 degrees Celsius each, while Angul and Deogarh registered 39.7 degrees Celsius. Titlagarh recorded 39.5 degrees Celsius, Hirakud 39.6 degrees Celsius, and Nuapada 39.2 degrees Celsius.

The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack registered 37.8 degrees Celsius.

In contrast, coastal districts experienced relatively lower temperatures. Gopalpur recorded 33.4 degrees Celsius, Paradip 35.0 degrees Celsius, Balasore 35.7 degrees Celsius, and Puri 35.8 degrees Celsius.

The temperature pattern indicated that interior districts continued to experience significantly higher daytime heat compared to coastal regions, influenced by local weather conditions and the moderating effect of the sea breeze along the coast.
