Bhubaneswar: A massive 12-foot-long king cobra was successfully rescued from the premises of a government school in Ganjam district late on Tuesday night, sparking panic among villagers.
The incident took place at the Government Upgraded High School in Ambapur village under Jarada panchayat.
As per reports, the venomous reptile was spotted inside the school campus around 11 pm, prompting alarmed locals to immediately alert the Forest Department and the Chikiti Snake Helpline.
A rescue team promptly reached the spot and carried out a careful operation to safely capture the snake. After sustained efforts, the king cobra was rescued without any harm to the reptile or the residents.
Locals revealed that the same snake had also entered the school premises on Monday but had left on its own after some time. Its return on Tuesday night caused fresh panic in the area, with many villagers gathering near the campus during the rescue operation. The snake has been safely released into its natural habitat by the forest officials.
