Berhampur: In a major administrative reshuffle following the alleged custodial death of a man at Kabisuryanagar Police Station in Ganjam district, authorities have transferred 23 officers and staff posted at Kabisuryanagar Police Station and three personnel from the Balichhai Outpost.
Ganjam Superintendent of Police issued the transfer orders, stating that the move was aimed at ensuring a fair and impartial investigation into the incident and preventing any potential interference with the inquiry process.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) has intensified its investigation into the alleged custodial death. A four-member HRPC team, which arrived in Ganjam district on Tuesday, has commenced a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the case.
As part of the investigation, the team on Wednesday summoned family members of the deceased, Sushant, to the Diganta Dak Bungalow in Purushottampur for questioning. Sources said investigators are examining the allegations in detail and gathering evidence to determine the facts and establish the veracity of the claims made by the family.
