Bhopal: The affidavits filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha candidates Tarun Chugh and Rajnish Kumar Agrawal from Madhya Pradesh have revealed detailed information about their assets, incomes, and professional backgrounds, offering a glimpse into their financial standing ahead of the elections. Both candidates filed their nominations on Saturday.
According to his affidavit, Rajnish Kumar Agrawal has declared movable assets worth approximately Rs 59.59 lakh in his own name, while his wife Garima Vijayvargiya holds assets valued at Rs 32.12 lakh. His dependent son, Jyotirman Agrawal, has assets worth Rs 5 lakh, bringing the family’s total movable assets to nearly Rs 96.71 lakh.
In addition, Agrawal owns agricultural and non-agricultural land in Lateri tehsil of Vidisha district, valued at around Rs 1.16 crore. Together, the family’s movable and immovable assets exceed Rs 2 crore.
Agrawal, who operates “Ruchi Gas Agency,” has substantial funds in his bank accounts, including over Rs 24 lakh in the agency’s current account. His affidavit also lists 20 grams of gold, valued at Rs 3.21 lakh, in his possession, while his wife owns 150 grams of gold jewellery valued at Rs 24 lakh.
He owns two vehicles, a Toyota Etios Cross (2014) and a Mahindra Bolero (2013), with a combined value of Rs 4.70 lakh. A postgraduate in Broadcast Journalism from Harisingh Gour University, Sagar, Agrawal reported an income of Rs 9.92 lakh for 2024-25, with consistent earnings in previous years. He has no criminal cases against him.
Senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh, meanwhile, has declared movable and immovable assets worth approximately Rs 22 crore, with over Rs 8 crore in his own name. His affidavit lists immovable assets of Rs 4.38 crore in his name and Rs 2.90 crore in his wife’s name, excluding family firm holdings.
Chugh, who earned an MBA from Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, in 2012, declared an income of Rs 36.97 lakh for 2024-25, while his wife reported an income of Rs 73.77 lakh. The affidavit also mentions liabilities of Rs 85.07 lakh in his name and Rs 4.89 crore in his wife’s name.
Like Agrawal, Chugh has clarified that no criminal cases are pending against him.
