Cuttack: A high-level preparatory meeting was held at the State Police Headquarters here on Wednesday to review security arrangements ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled visit to Mayurbhanj district on June 19–20, 2026.

The meeting was chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, who directed senior officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the VVIP visit and maintain close coordination among all concerned departments.

Emphasising the sensitivity of the visit, the DGP asked officers to accord top priority to security planning and ensure continuous monitoring and regular review of all arrangements to rule out any lapses.

Officials informed that elaborate multi-layered security arrangements will be put in place across all key locations, including the helipad, meeting venues and VVIP movement routes. Anti-sabotage checks and technical inspection teams will remain fully operational during the visit.

Traffic management plans, including route diversions, will be implemented in Mayurbhanj district to ensure minimal disruption to public movement. Additional parking spaces have also been identified near the venues.

Special security units, including the Special Operations Group (SOG), Strike Force and K-9 dog squads, will be deployed for crowd control and emergency response. Surveillance will be strengthened with additional CCTV cameras and drone monitoring across sensitive points.

Given that Mayurbhanj is a border district, security along inter-state borders will be further tightened with intensified patrolling and check points. The DGP also directed strict inspection and monitoring of hotels, lodges and other accommodation facilities in the district.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements related to emergency medical services, fire safety preparedness, traffic regulation and coordination with the district administration to ensure swift response to any exigency.

Among those present were Director General of Police, CID-CB Vinaytosh Mishra; Director of Intelligence R.P. Koche; Additional DGP (Modernisation) S.K. Priyadarsi; Additional DGP (Railways & Coastal Security) Arun Bothra; Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar; Transport Commissioner-cum-Chairman Amitabh Thakur; Commissioner of Police (Bhubaneswar–Cuttack) S. Dev Datta Singh; Additional DGP (S.A.P.) Rajesh Kumar; and other senior officers. Deputy Inspector General (Eastern Range) Pinak Mishra and Superintendent of Police (Mayurbhanj) Varun Guntupalli participated virtually in the meeting.
