Bhubaneswar: In view of the severe heatwave conditions sweeping across the district, Bargarh District Collector has announced the extension of summer vacation for all schools.
The summer vacation, which was scheduled to end earlier, has now been extended till June 20, 2026. All government and private schools in the district will reopen on Monday, June 22, 2026. June 21 being a Sunday, the reopening has been adjusted accordingly.
The decision was taken by the District Collector after reviewing the prevailing heatwave situation to safeguard the health and well-being of students from extreme temperatures.
With this announcement, Bargarh has joined Sonepur and Angul districts, where the respective District Collectors had earlier extended summer vacations in their districts due to the intense heatwave conditions.
The district administration urged parents and students to take necessary precautions against the heat until conditions improve.
