Boudh: In a strict action against negligence, the Boudh district administration has suspended two Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for failing to perform their duties in connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
The suspended officials are Birendra Behera, Assistant Teacher, Government Upper Primary School, Gandisar and Shiba Chandra Gaan, Assistant Teacher, Government Upper Primary School, Kharbhuin. Both were appointed as BLOs for Polling Station No. 176-Gandisar and Polling Station No. 169-Kharbhuin respectively under the 86-Boudh Assembly Constituency.
According to the order issued by District Election Officer and Boudh District Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, the two teachers repeatedly remained absent from duty despite multiple instructions and show cause notices. They failed to attend to their statutory responsibilities related to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The District Election Officer has cited gross negligence, dereliction of duty, and disobedience of lawful orders as the reasons for the suspension. Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against them under the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules for such gross misconduct.
During the period of suspension, the officials have been barred from leaving their headquarters without prior permission and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules.
