Cuttack: A Booth Level Officer (BLO) engaged in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work was allegedly attacked in Cuttack on Friday, prompting police action and the arrest of the accused.
The incident occurred near Dihasahi in the Shankarapur area while SIR-related activities were underway in the Shankarapur Bisinagar locality.
According to police sources, the BLO was on his way to perform official SIR duties when an intoxicated individual allegedly intercepted him, abused him and physically assaulted him near Dehasahi.
A complaint was subsequently lodged at Badambadi Police Station. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police arrested the accused and initiated an investigation into the incident.
The injured BLO was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
Police said further investigation is underway and appropriate legal action is being taken in the matter.
