Sonepur: Miscreants fired nearly 25 rounds at the house of Diptirekha Nanda, the current Block Chairperson of Binika block in Subarnapur district, late on Friday night.
The attack took place at her residence in Singiyuba village under Binika block. Fortunately, no one inside the house was injured in the firing. However, bullets hit two cars parked inside and outside the premises, causing damage at multiple spots.
Diptirekha’s husband, Ashok Nanda, is a prominent local leader. He is the current District President of Youth BJD (Biju Janata Dal) and has previously served as Block Chairman.
The motive behind the late-night attack remains unclear. Police have registered a case and reached the spot. Officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and conducting intensive investigations to identify the attackers and ascertain the reason behind the firing.
