Bhubaneswar: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two young men and left another seriously injured after a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter at Ankorada Chhak under Digapahandi Police Station in Ganjam district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Kalia Swain of Patapur village and Shibaram Sethy of Chudangpur village. Kalia was riding the scooter while Shibaram was riding the bike when the collision took place.
Upon being informed, fire service personnel reached the spot and rushed the victims to Digapahandi Hospital. However, doctors declared both of them dead on arrival.
Samir Sethy, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, sustained severe injuries in the mishap. His condition is stated to be critical. He was later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced treatment due to his serious condition.
Digapahandi Police have reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
