Rairangpur: As many as 100 police officers and employees joined duty on Tuesday in the newly formed Rairangpur Police District.
The personnel, appointed against the sanctioned strength for the new district, reported to their respective postings and were welcomed by Suresh Chandra Patra, the first Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rairangpur Police District.
Patra greeted the newly joined officers and employees with floral bouquets and urged them to discharge their duties with dedication, integrity, and commitment to public service.
A welcome felicitation ceremony was organised at the District Police Office premises under the chairmanship of SP Patra. The event was attended by Additional Superintendents of Police Jadunath Jena and Anand Kumar Dungdung, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Birendra Senapati, Reserve Inspector Lakshmi Ranjan, Sub-Inspector Ranjan Kumar Sethi, other departmental officers and staff, and Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer Bikash Ranjan Mohanty.
Addressing the gathering, SP Patra said the day would remain a “golden and memorable chapter” in the history of the new police district. He said the joining of the police force represented not merely an increase in manpower, but a significant step towards strengthening the rule of law, improving public service delivery, and reinforcing peace, order, and security in the region.
Patra also stressed that the police district’s objective was not limited to crime control alone, but also included building public trust, ensuring sensitive and citizen-centric policing, and fostering stronger relations with the community.
The Rairangpur Police District Office was inaugurated by President Murmu during her visit to Mayurbhanj on June 19.
