Bhubaneswar: One person died and more than 10 wedding guests were seriously injured after a bus carrying a wedding party lost balance and fell down a gorge at Ranipatha Ghat on the Boudh-Kandhamal border.
Many other passengers also sustained minor injuries in the accident. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
The injured and seriously injured were rescued with the help of the fire department and admitted to the Old Cuttack Hospital.
The bus was carrying about 50 wedding guests. It was reportedly returning from a wedding feast and was en route from Puruna Katak in Sonepur district to Dadaki in Kandhamal district.
Another report stated the bus was coming from Phulbani to Boudh.
Further details on the exact route and cause of the accident are awaited.
