Thunderstorms And Light To Moderate Rain Likely In 12 Dists In Next 3 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nowcast warning predicting thunderstorm, lightning and light to moderate rain in 12 Odisha districts in the next three hours. The warning was issued at 11:00 am on July 2, 2026.

According to the IMD, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over 12 districts of the state within the next three hours. Gusty winds with speed reaching up to 40 kmph are also expected in these areas.

The districts under the warning include Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar city), Puri, Ganjam, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Mayurbhanj. People in these districts have been advised to keep a close watch on the weather for any worsening conditions.

Meanwhile, the IMD has urged residents to take necessary precautions, especially against lightning and strong winds, during this period.
