Koraput (Jayapur): Police on Friday arrested five persons for allegedly attempting to commit a robbery at the Forest Training Center premises near Yamunaguda under the Jayapur Town Police Station limits in Koraput district.
The arrested persons have been identified as Badal Nag, Shiv Nayak, Hari Nayak, Tulu Khosla, and Firoz Nag.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police said the accused were planning to loot the premises late Thursday night. A swift raid was carried out by the Jayapur police team, which led to the arrest of all five accused from the spot.
Police said weapons and other materials, including swords, iron rods, torches, and empty liquor bottles, were recovered from their possession. These were allegedly intended for use during the planned robbery.
Jayapur SDPO Archita Mittal said the operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs, which helped police foil the alleged robbery attempt before it could be executed.
According to police, Badal Nag is involved in 33 criminal cases, while Shiv Nayak has 10, Hari Nayak 7, Tulu Khosla 5, and Firoz Nag 2 cases registered against them.
All five accused were arrested and produced before the court on Friday.
