OMSA has been seeking reforms in service conditions, career progression and incentives for doctors working in government healthcare facilities. As per a notification issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the committee will examine the feasibility of the demands raised by the association and recommend the way forward. The panel will be chaired by the Principal Secretary of the Finance Department.
Members include the Principal Secretaries of the General Administration & Public Grievances Department and the Law Department.
The Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health Department will also be part of the committee.
The Director of Health Services, Odisha, has been named as the Member Convener. The constitution of the committee follows a recent cease-work strike by OMSA.
Doctors under OMSA have been pressing for the implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression, a transparent and time-bound promotion policy, correction of pay and service benefit discrepancies, and better working conditions in government hospitals. The association withdrew its strike after receiving an assurance from the government.
