Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to introduce a fully cashless system for land transactions. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced on Tuesday that the move aims to make the registration process transparent, hassle-free and free from corruption.
The Minister said a blueprint has been prepared to ensure that not a single rupee is exchanged in cash during the purchase and sale of land. Under the proposed system, buyers and sellers will not need to visit government offices to submit applications after finalising the deal.
Both parties will only be required to appear at the final stage for identity verification before the execution of the sale deed. The registered deed will be made available online. This will eliminate the need to wait for physical copies.
Pujari said the initiative is aimed at removing middlemen, simplifying land registration and making sub-registrar offices corruption-free. He added that the modalities for implementing the new system have already been finalised. The government will roll out the initiative soon.
