Puri: The Odisha government has achieved another milestone in its ongoing drive to protect the land assets of Shree Jagannath Temple, with the successful amendment of Record of Rights (RoR) for 693.106 acres of land in Satyabadi Tahasil in Puri district.

The amendment covers 38 khatas recorded in the name of Shree Jagannath Mahaprabhu Bije, Puri, and the marfatdars, resulting in the transfer of the land under various mouzas of Satyabadi to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) as the property of Lord Jagannath.

The Satyabadi Tahasildar has submitted the compliance report to the SJTA. While records covering 458.896 acres had been corrected earlier, an additional 234.21 acres have now been brought under the temple’s ownership following the establishment of the SJTA Land Cell.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department and SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee said the state government has expedited all procedures to safeguard Lord Jagannath’s land assets, ensure proper preservation of land records and provide legal protection to temple properties.

The latest achievement follows the recent amendment of land records for more than 4,700 acres in Khordha district in the name of Shree Jagannath Mahaprabhu. The administration has also completed the correction of records for 77.20 acres spread across 82 khatas in Pipili Tahasil.

According to the SJTA, the ongoing exercise aims to strengthen the protection of Shree Jagannath Temple’s land assets, enhance transparency in revenue administration and prevent future land disputes. The administration said the record correction drive will continue across other areas as part of the state government’s sustained efforts to secure temple properties.
