Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has directed all District Collectors to furnish detailed information of Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRS) who have completed five or more years of continuous service.
In a letter issued by the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, the government stated that it is planning to create a consolidated database of experienced GRSs for administrative and policy purposes.
Under Secretary to Odisha government Namita Sahoo has asked all Collectors and District Magistrates to submit updated particulars of such Gram Rozgar Sevaks, including their name, father’s/husband’s name, gender, social category, date of joining, and other service-related details.
The department has directed the district administrations to send the complete information within 15 days on an urgent basis.
District officials have been asked to treat the matter as high priority and submit the required data in the prescribed format.
“It may be recalled that, during examination of proposals relating to absorption of eligible GRSs into the post of Accountant-cum-Data Entry Operators (ADEOs), district-wise information regarding such GRSs was required by Government. Similar information may be required from time to time for examination of policy matters and for furnishing information to various authorities”, read the notification.
This move is seen as a significant step towards streamlining data on grassroots-level workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and could pave the way for future policy decisions regarding their service conditions and absorption.
