Bhubaneswar: A registered ultrasound centre in Sora of Baleshwar district was sealed following a surprise inspection conducted by a joint team of the State PC & PNDT Authority and the Baleshwar District Authority on Monday over alleged violations of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act.
The inspection was carried out by officials from the district administration and the Revenue Department based on information about possible violations of the Act. During the inspection, the team reportedly found several irregularities at the centre and sealed the establishment based on the preliminary findings.
The inspection revealed that the centre had allegedly failed to submit online Form F for a considerable period. The team also found that the name, qualification and registration number of the doctor were not displayed in the ultrasound room, as mandated under the law. Besides, the required documents and records were not maintained properly.
The authorities have preserved relevant documents, equipment and other materials collected during the inspection. Digital evidence gathered during the investigation is also being examined.
Further action will be taken after verification of all evidence and completion of the investigation in accordance with due legal procedures. A notice will be issued to the concerned establishment as per the provisions of the law.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has reiterated its commitment to preventing illegal sex determination and female foeticide and ensuring strict enforcement of the PC & PNDT Act across Odisha.
