Patna: The judicial inquiry into the alleged police encounter of Bharat Tiwari in Bihar’s Bhojpur district continued on Monday, with three key witnesses appearing before the commission constituted by the state government.
The witnesses included Tiwari’s sister-in-law, Suman Devi, as well as Satyanarayan Chaudhary and Mantu Kamkar, both of whom claimed to have witnessed the incident. All three recorded their statements before the commission headed by retired Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha, providing their respective accounts of the events.
After recording her testimony, Suman Devi told reporters that she had shared all the facts related to the incident with the commission. She said the panel questioned her in detail about the sequence of events, the police personnel involved, and other relevant aspects of the case.
According to her, the commission’s chairman assured her that justice would be delivered after the inquiry is completed. She added that her deposition lasted for nearly one and a half hours and reiterated her demand for strict action against anyone found guilty.
Another witness, Satyanarayan Chaudhary, also recorded his statement before the commission. Speaking to the media, he said he narrated exactly what he had witnessed during the incident.
He said the commission asked him detailed questions about the sequence of events, and he answered them based on his firsthand knowledge. He, too, expressed confidence that the judicial inquiry would ensure justice.
The commission continues to record statements from family members, eyewitnesses, and other individuals connected to the alleged encounter. The inquiry is expected to conclude after all testimony has been recorded, following which the commission will submit its report to the Bihar government.
The Bharat Tiwari encounter case has remained under close public scrutiny, and the findings of the judicial commission are expected to play a crucial role in determining the circumstances surrounding the incident and any subsequent action.
