Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet has approved the “MMSY-Transferred Roads Improvement Programme (TRIP)” to upgrade roads transferred from the PR department and other departments across the state.
The 5-year scheme will be implemented from 2025-26 to 2029-30 with a total outlay of Rs 6,700 crore. Under the programme, approximately 25,500 km of roads will be improved. The Cabinet has also approved completion of all ongoing projects under the scheme during this period.
According to the government, the objective of TRIP is to provide better access to health and education facilities and improve connectivity and communication to Panchayats, schools, colleges, hospitals, markets, trade and commerce centers, and tourist destinations.
Officials said the upgraded road network will particularly benefit people living in faraway places that remain detached from the mainstream, and will help improve their overall standard of living.With Cabinet approval in place, the Rural Development Department will now take up execution of the projects in a phased manner.
