Puri: In view of the intense rainfall and ongoing thunderstorm activity, the Puri district administration has announced holiday for all schools in the district today.
District Collector has declared a holiday for all government, private, and aided schools from Shishu Batika (Anganwadi) to Plus II. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure due to the expected heavy to moderate rainfall and associated weather disturbances.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate rain and thunderstorm activity is likely to continue over Puri for the next few hours. The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, in its 7:00 am nowcast, has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain and thunderstorm likely till 1:00 pm. Maximum temperature is expected to hover between 25°C and 27°C with very high humidity (85–95%).
The temperature at 5:30 am was recorded at 25.0°C with 92% humidity.
