Bhubaneswar: A deadly hit-and-run incident has once again sparked serious concerns about road safety in Odisha’s capital after two youths were killed.
The accident occurred on Tuesday night on the Khandagiri overbridge when an unidentified speeding vehicle allegedly collided with their motorcycle with high impact and sped away from the spot. Both riders were killed instantly.
Upon receiving information, Khandagiri police reached the scene and began an investigation. The bodies were shifted to Capital Hospital for postmortem.
Police have, meanwhile, launched a manhunt to trace the vehicle involved in the fatal crash. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from various points near the overbridge to identify the offending vehicle and reconstruct the sequence of events.
The identities of the two deceased are yet to be officially released. Police are working to determine the exact cause of the collision while continuing efforts to track down the driver who fled the scene.
