Bhubaneswar: Vedanta Aluminium has extended welfare services to more than five lakh devotees during the ongoing Rath Yatra in Puri, deploying volunteers, community kitchens and cultural programmes to support pilgrims attending Odisha’s biggest religious festival.
The company said it has also provided hospitality and essential care services to over 7,000 community members during the annual festival.
To help ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of the lakhs of devotees visiting Puri from across the world, the company mobilised a dedicated task force of 100 volunteers to provide round-the-clock services at key festival locations. Through the large-scale distribution of nutritious meals, cooling refreshments, and a grand showcase of local art and culture, Vedanta Aluminium collaborated closely with local civic authorities to celebrate and preserve Odisha’s rich spiritual heritage through its community-building initiatives.
Anchored in the spirit of seva (selfless service), the company established a high-capacity base camp and a mega Anna Chatra community kitchen near the Jagannath Temple to cater to the massive influx of pilgrims. The volunteer task force assisted with crowd management and distributed thousands of hot, hygienic meals every day, along with breakfast packets, Maha Prasad, oral rehydration solution (ORS), and drinking water. To ensure public safety and environmental sustainability, Vedanta worked in close coordination with the government administration by deploying dedicated infrastructure and adopting eco-friendly measures such as biodegradable plates and effective waste management systems across its service areas.

To enrich the festive experience, Vedanta Aluminium organised a vibrant cultural programme featuring a devotional Bhajan Samaroha, classical Odissi dance performances, and a landmark sand art installation by acclaimed artist Manas Kumar Sahoo at Puri Beach. Reflecting the spirit of the celebrations in Puri, the company also organised Rath Yatra festivities at its residential townships in Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh. These celebrations included community chariot-pulling and community kitchens, bringing together thousands of employees, their families, and members of the local community in a shared spirit of devotion.
