Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has assured that there is no alarming COVID-19 situation in the state and that current cases are mild, similar to common flu or seasonal influenza.

Speaking to the media, Director of Public Health Dr Rabindranath Mishra said, “There is no need to panic. Nowadays COVID is like common influenza. We do not have any reports on any COVID outbreak.

He added that the department came to know about the cases in Ganjam district from media. As of now, two persons are under home isolation while one patient has been admitted to the hospital. All patients are stable and are being closely monitored.

According to reports, a woman patient has tested positive for COVID-19 at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, Ganjam district, and is currently undergoing treatment.

The fresh cases in Odisha have come into focus after a surge in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. The Health Department said it is closely monitoring the situation in accordance with the guidelines and protocols issued by the Government of India.

Health authorities have assured that the overall situation in the state remains fully under control.
